Premier Health Premium Active Manuka Honey is collected by honey bees feeding on Manuka flowers (Leptospermum Scoparium) growing in native forests of New Zealand.
It is extracted without heating or fine filtering to preserve all of the natural goodness of the unique Manuka honey. New Zealand Manuka honey is known to have antibacterial activity that, in laboratory tests, inhibits the growth of bacteria causing many symptoms of stomach ulcers.

Only 10 percent of all Manuka Honey is claimed to have antibacterial properties with its non-hydrogen peroxide antibacterial content which is known as NPA (Non-Peroxide Activity) Manuka honey.
One of widely publicized bio - activity testing methods is Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) rating which has been privately trademarked in New Zealand to represent this antibacterial activity.

Another popular testing method is MGO rating which focuses on the Methylglyoxal content found in high concentration in Manuka honey and is the antiseptic compound mostly responsible for NPA.
